The Flare is a matte black bar pull at 3.75" hole centers — the upper-cabinet scale where matte black reads as graphic line rather than as material. On a small bar, there isn't enough surface for the finish to behave like a material; what the eye registers is the silhouette against the door face.
Solid brass with a thermally bonded powder-coat finish — electrostatically applied and cured at high temperature to a continuous surface that resists chipping, moisture, and oil transfer from repeated hand contact. Unlike anodized or painted black finishes, the bond is structural to the metal, not a layer sitting on top of it. There is no chip-through to brass color, no fade under sun-exposed windows, no patina shift over years.
At eye-line on uppers, matte black does the opposite of what brass does. Brass reads as material with warmth; matte black absorbs light and reads as a drawn line across the wall run. The choice when the kitchen is a contemporary, two-tone, or dark-upper composition — and the hardware is meant to register as architecture, not ornament.
