PVD applies material at the molecular level evenly along the full length: the finish reads consistent from the first inch to the last, end to end, year after year.
On a walnut island, that uniformity matters at viewing distance. Walnut grain shifts in tone as light source angle changes — warm amber under direct sun, cooler brown under ambient. A brushed gold PVD bar at 7.5" holds its own tonal character through those shifts; the hardware doesn't trail the wood through its light response, it sits alongside it as a stable warm element across the room.
